As many of you know, this past November, voters passed by a small margin, a tax increase, Prop A. I am the ONLY candidate that was opposed to the tax increase. The district spent nearly $200,000 on marketing this, as a way to increase teacher compensation, continue certain school programs, and increase safety. There were better options available without increasing taxes, but not one single board member fought for our teachers, our homeowners, or our children. I will be your voice on the board. In the end, this tax increase will do little to accomplish what it was sold as.
Over the past 20 years, the school district tax burden on bonds has increased by 12% over Maintenance and Operations. This removes the ability of the school to provide real, substantive raises for teachers while also giving taxpayers a break. Furthermore, while the state continues to provide some means of tax relief every session, I have yet to meet a homeowner who isn't feeling the pain of high property taxes, or a teacher that feels fairly compensated.
Please check out my plan for lowering taxes, giving actual raises to teachers, and closing loopholes in school security. I will be updating this website with additional videos and information as we get closer to the election. I will be providing real, specific solutions to save money in the district. This is my cell phone number, 936-446-6763. Call or text me anytime. I want to hear from you.
